Covering free radio activity from March 12-18, 2016

The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the
hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the
shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community
and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North
America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing
schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inputs!

as censoring the Internet, what to do when the economy crashes and a

6935USB "Burn it Down Radio" 0339-0430* UTC 13 March 2025 Noted with a
program of talks, such as 'some where down the road', with Josey
Sparks; Tunes such as American Pie @ 0357 by Don Mclean; Go your own
Way by Fleetwood Mac @ 0406; Iron Man by Black Sabbath @ 0352 and
"Only good Die Young" by Billy Joel @0425, with a Time check for 0425
hours.. plus a plug for HFU mentioned and the those all who where
listening. off with finally ID for "BID" Great audio but at time
signal hampered by noise floor other wise whooping signal @ 0401 hours

Mel Blanc show, Colgate tooth powder ad with orchestra, big band tune,

Old Radio Program Pirate: 6770.06/AM, 0215-0218+, 15-Mar; Possibly
Jack Benny w/Camel cigarette ads, "more doctors recommend". Poor at

down to S5 at 2210 UTC, Bram Stoker with Azteca #10 featuring listener
mailbag, DX Merry-Go-Round, Top 10 list, Ask Dr Radio and slogan
"we've upped our standards now up yours", program was played twice.

listeners, had audio trouble with their microphones at start of

Steven w/pop/rock & IDs, including a really classy,

Radio Illuminati, 6150 AM, 2130-2330*, 03-06-16 SIO: 333/222 Long show
of pop/rock oldies Including The Who, Jefferson Starship, etc. 2326
station ID and requests to “like” on Facebook, close down

UNID: 3/12/16 1852-1858 UTC 6925 AM. S6-7 with seagull and airplane
sound effects, faded into the noise at 1858 UTC. (Filipkowski,RI)

UNID: 3/13/16 0325 UTC 6951 AM. Detected a station under the noise but
couldn't get any details, very tough copy. (Filipkowski,RI)

UNID: 3/13/16 2235-2242+ UTC 7610 AM. S7 playing ambient music and a
sci-fi drama, via HFU tip. (Filipkowski,RI)

UNID: 7610/AM, 2255-23016+, 13-Mar; Sci-fi movie soundtrack? SIO=353 (Frodge-MI)

UNID: 3/18/16 0031-0032 UTC 6925 USB. Very weak with the Lincolnshire
Poacher musical tones then YL reading off numbers. (Filipkowski,RI)

** Wolverine Radio

Wolverine Radio: 3/13/16 0159-0243* UTC 6930 USB. S3-4 with "life"
themed music show playing tunes including "Walk Of Life" and "What Is
The Life", SSTVs at sign off. (Filipkowski,RI)

Wolverine Radio, 6930usb, 3-13-16, 0212-0239utc, good with light
fading, songs with the word life or living in them such as "got to get
you into my life", "living a life of illusion", "wild wild life" etc,
SSTV/FAX at 0237 of a picture of an egg being fertilized which I saw
on HFU. (Hassig-IL)

6930-USB, March 13 at 0133, big S9+25 signal with torch song, 0134
honky-tonk piano, 0137 Wolverine Radio ID as expected, vocal tune;
still going past 0200, and was not on at previous pirate band check
circa 0100. Many other logs of it between 0140 and 0243*; keyword for
song titles was ``life``:

{It`s probably misdirexion, but of course one associates the name with
Michigan, and there is a little town of Wolverine at exit 301 of I-75
