Probably CPRS (Frodge-MI)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5800.17, Oct 18 at 0053 as I tune up the bands, what`s
this? C&W tune by YL, S9+5 AM but undermodulated; 0054 OM talks, then
seems it`s a parlato song, but cuts off air at 0056*. Very intriguing!
Could it be our old harmonicizer, KWHW Altus OK, 4 x 1450, instead of
2 x which was active last May? But that was on the lo side of 2900,
and a few minutes earlier I had tuned up across 2900 without noticing
anything. If not KWHW, there are 185 other 1450 stations in the US &
Canada. Other possible fundamentals to land on 5800 are 1160 and 580.
It would be considerably west of here if making a sunset pattern/power
reduxion circa 0100 UT.

The abrupt cutoff a few minutes before the hour, however, smax of a
mixing product with some SW station, like WWCR/WNQM, but 5800 is not
1300 kHz away from any WWCR frequency, and meanwhile 6115 is still on
as is 4840. 4840 plus 960 = 5800, but programming and cutoff don`t
work for this to be an external mix between WWCR and local KGWA Enid.
I didn`t have time for a thorough // search on the 49 mb, but seems
unlikely to be a leapfrog with such American-style AM programming.

And it could always be a pirate; not much activity on 6.9 MHz band at
the moment. 5800 was one of many Station YHWH frequencies --- remember
how active he was just a year ago until busted? But 5800 has been used
more by Euro-pirates, notably Free Radio Service Holland. HF
Underground has some old logs of that running late night on 5800, but
no recent logs of anything on 5800. Must recheck less than 24 hours
later. Or maybe FRSH will confirm this?

5800, Oct 18 at 2255, no signal here; checking again closer to 24
hours after yesterday`s unID musical log, Oct 19 at 0054 past 0100,
still no reshow (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** WOHR (Halloween Radio)

WOHR (Halloween Radio): 6925 USB / OCT 23 / 0231-0239*. Song "Monster
Mash" into repeated station ID as "W-O-H-R." Played another song
couldn't copy due to incredibly noisy conditions. Another ID then
s/off @0239. (Sedlacek-NE)

** Wolverine Radio

Wolverine Radio, 6945usb, 10-17-15, 2330-0027utc, good sig, tunes
about animals incl Stones: "monkey man", "white bird", "dead skunk in
middle of road", etc. (Hassig-IL)

Wolverine Radio, 6945 USB, 2314-2331+, 10-17-15 SIO: 555/232 Songs
featuring tunes with animals in their name. Started off strong but
quite weak by 2335. [Lobdell-MA]

3:00-3:50 PM; Did some DFBDA (Direction-Finding By Driving Around); it
appears to originate SE of me. The scratchless (or near scratchless)
footprint starts about 2 mi. off & extends to about 6 mi., so maybe
about 15-20 sq. mi.--too big an area to spot an Aha! QTH. probably not
a micro power operation. Same sung non-ID @3:25. 9:15 PM zilch. +++
11:43 AM-12:20 PM, 18-Oct; Pop/rock tunes + themes from Gilliagn's
Island & My 3 Sons; no anmts. The footprint moved & expanded from the

extended to about I-75/Z-Bridge, about 18 mi. out. The sig was kaput
at I-75/M-46, about 23 mi. out. 8:49 PM zilch. This has now become a
project. +++ 11:27 AM...1:01 PM, 19-Oct; Mostly C&W tune w/occ'l
classic rock w/few sec. DA pauses between tunes. Wildfire Credit Union

+++ 11:45 AM...12:25 PM, 20-Oct; Pop/rock at tune-in; about 11:40 hrd
some distortion & disappeared. 11:45 at yesterday's hot spot, hrd only
DA w/strong xmtr hum; still DA/hum @12:25 PM. 5:30 PM found them back
on w/a hard rocker then code! (no copy). Strong w/a touch of
distortion at the usual hot spot. Source may be from an apartment
building near the hot spot. The plot thickens. +++ 11:04 AM, 21-Oct;
kidsong & off to DA/hum @11:13; still off @11:45. Found back on @2:41
PM w/pop, Jeezus pop & ad for Feeney Chrysler in Midland. 6:25 PM
DA/hum. +++ 11:45 AM, 12:39 PM, 22-Oct; DA/hum. I may have dragged
this out about as far as it can go. (Frodge-MI)
