The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the
hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the
shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community
and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North
America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing
schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inputs!

== Editor's notes ==

No sign of the old time radio pirate on 6770 in several days. This
station had been on more or less continuously for several months. The
last log on the FRN was on 25 January.

At press time (around 0000 UTC Saturday February 6), I am hearing a
broadcast on 6340 AM with bluesy sixties rock, tentative ID "Radio
10," and Radio Ga Ga on 6930 broadcasting music in double sideband
mode.

Captain Morgan: 2/5/16 0112-0123* UTC 6949.5 AM. Music just under the

** Celtic Music Radio

Celtic Music Radio (tentative): 2/3/16 2004-2041* UTC 6935 AM. Just
above the noise at S4 playing Irish or Scottish music,OM with heavy
accent gave ID as "? Music Radio" and what sounded like a gmail
address, Irish whiskey ad and off in mid-song. (Filipkowski,RI)

unidentified (but maybe Celtic Music Radio) 6935AM 3 Feb 2025
1956-2038 Irish/Celtic music with comments by both an OM and a YL in
EE. Mostly faint to very faint. Bits of an id: "__________ Music
Radio." Music more understandable than the OM's and YL's voices.

S7-8 down to S4-5 and back to S7-8 with Andy Walker and the "Before

familiar voice. Mentions Pirate Radio Boston's first anniversary.
Drunken sauce recipe. Hilarious animal stories segment at 1428. ID-ed
as program number five at 1436. Into another show at 1438. s5/s7.

featuring Mail Scrotum,Animal Stories,DX parody segment mentioning
He-Man Radio is switching to an all Kristen K. format,IRS parody

Radio Azteca 6900USB(?) 31 Jan 2025 1401-1445 Program #5 from way long
ago. Pirate Radio News, a letter from Charlie Loudenboomer, the wrong
QSL address, News for QSL hounds, ADV for IRS about using certain
forms, and the every popular Lickety Split flavored underwear. (25442.

Radio Azteca 6925USB and 6950USB 31 Jan 2025 2128-2135 on 6950 and
2135-2140 on 6925. Program #5. Ask Dr. Radio. Lickety Split flavored

UNID: 1/30/16 2132-2146 UTC 6940 AM. S8-9 then S4-5 at 2146 UTC,songs

UNID: 1/30/16 1511-2121 UTC 6935/6940 AM. Signal down in the noise but
heard tunes by Motley Crue and Foreigner,switched to 6940 AM around
2104 UTC S5-6 then S8-9 and great sounding audio with songs by Europe

UNID: 1/31/16 1943-2049* UTC 6935 AM. S7-8 and nice audio playing
Irish music and other songs by Celtic Woman including "Orinoco
Flow","You Raise Me Up","Amazing Grace","Danny Boy" and "Green The
Whole Year Round",off with no ID. Enjoyed this one very much!

Unid ham band shenanigans. Sunday, January 31, 2106, 0415, 3840 LSB.
Classic jazz music, into an angry hip-hop song "My 98 Oldsmobile."
s15, flame throwing signal and good sound, completely obliterating a
lively ham conversation in effect. None of the hams doing any better
than an s5/s7. (Will-MD)

UNID 3840/L 0458-0508+, 31-Jan; General mayhem; several ops tossing
barbs plus Fart Man; sounded like some legit ops buried. SIO=243 Tnx

Unid. Sunday, January 31, 2016, 2236, 6940 am. Presumably this is the
same operator who was on 6925 am until just a few seconds ago.
Currently relaying (off-air) the Amphetamine Radio transmission taking
place on 6955 usb. Open carrier at 2238 for a couple of minutes, then
back into relaying the 6955. s9. (Will-MD)

Unid. Sunday, January 31, 2016, 2205, 6925 am. Music by Everlast,
"What It's Like," with phone-in quality sound, frequent dropouts,
tones, buzzes, and other sounds. Very strong peskiness are co-channel

unidentified 6935AM 29 Jan 2025 2211-2225 Very weak signal early, then
35453. Occasionally the sidebands disappeared in the waterfall and
there was just a nubbin of a carrier spike. Michael Jackson singing,
later "Hard Day's Night" and "Waiting on a Lady." Never heard anything

WCTU. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 2247, 6950 usb. Op talking, gave an
ID but didn't catch it, and into music by what sounds like Steeleye
Span or Fairport Convention. ID "you are tuned to WCTU" at 2259. Solid
s9. Signal degraded somewhat after 2300, heard a bit of "Oh Atlanta"
by Little Feat and off in mid song at 2312. (Will-MD)

XFM 6875AM 31 Jan 2025 0112-022 and 0314-0334* Lots of music and
chatter, mention of listeners from HFUnderground and email, many IDs
and station spots. Music that I liked by had never heard. Variable

tune Mana Mana. Googling brings up 95.1 WRBS Shine FM in Baltimore MD;
it's a rlgs hits stn., I have heard what sounded like Jeezus pop at

"98.7 K-Rock" (not 100% sure about the "Rock"). Googling brings up
98.7 CKXD Gander NL, Newfoundland's classic rock. Nothing local
heard--this requires more ear-time. Noted off @12:47 PM, so presume
their usual 12:30*. +++ 11:23 AM...12:30+* PM, 3-Feb; New feed today;
non-classic pop/rock--nothing familiar; No IDs or non-IDs; Dr. Pepper
ad; started into Brady Bunch TV theme & pulled plug. The adventure

4-Feb; Non-Top-40 pop/rock/rap; promo for concert at Soaring Eagle
Casino (Mt. Pleasant MI) & Kroger ad; no ID or non-ID hrd. This one
has been on only sporadically in recent weeks; with usual strng xmtr
